But my favorite response was from a neighbor who said, “Oh yes I compost, I toss my apple cores under a bush.”

The result of our composting attempt in our Alaska back yard was a large pile of garbage with little squash and cantaloupe seeds sending up green shoots. Much the same, I imagine, as throwing the apple cores under the tree.
That does sound unappealing except the sprouts!
Much of our composting happens in the chicken yard. I, too, have been known to toss things the chickens won’t eat ender a bush.
I always love the variety of composting ways!
