I had never known about this plant until my daughter pointed one out to me when we were walking down a sidewalk in Seattle a few years ago. She loves the color orange so much that she painted her bedroom that color in a spurt of high school enthusiasm. She’s now thirty-six, and that room in our house remains orange.
Your painting shows so well the variety of shapes this plant makes before and after the blooms open. Really nice.
Thanks Carol – and I have such affection for those orange bedroom walls – both because they have illuminated so many striking paintings of yours, and because just thinking of orange walls glowing in winter Alaska is a good thought!
